Charles Knight
The first Auditor-General of New Zealand (Auditor-General from 1846 to 1878, and Joint Commissioner of Audit from 1872 to 1878) has the letters MD FRCS after his name because he originally trained as a surgeon. The MD means a doctor of medicine, and the FRCS means that he was a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons.
Charles Knight entered the auditing world when he was offered a job as a copying clerk for Sir George Grey, who was twice the Governor of New Zealand.
