The indicator for goal 8 of the New Zealand Positive Ageing Strategy is defined as the proportion of the population aged 15+ that, in the past 12 months, perceives they had been treated unfairly or discriminated against because of the group they belonged to or seemed to belong to, as measured in the New Zealand General Social Survey 2008.[1] Results for this indicator are available for 2008 and 2010. For people aged 65+, the experience of discrimination increased from 2.7% for the 2008 survey to 3.4% for the 2010 survey.[2] Data from more surveys is needed to identify whether the change represents an increase in discrimination or year-to-year variation. |
