Our What good looks like series is an opportunity for public sector staff and practitioners to hear about projects and good practice examples from other public organisations.
Procurement decisions in the public sector are essentially decisions about spending public money. As such, they must be – and be seen to be – fair, impartial, and value for money. When conflicts of interest in a procurement process are not identified or managed well, they can significantly undermine fairness and impartiality, and trust and confidence in the public sector.
We recently published some scenario-based guidance to help avoid, mitigate, or manage conflicts of interest in procurement. In this session, we provided an overview of our guidance and shared observations from our recent inquiry work looking at procurement.
