Forums for audit and risk committee chairpersons
These forums are an opportunity for audit and risk committee chairpersons to raise matters of mutual interest and discuss good practice. The sessions feature guest speakers who present on topics of interest to audit and risk committees.
If you chair an audit and risk committee (or equivalent) in the public sector and would like to attend these sessions, please get in touch: events@oag.parliament.nz.
The Audit Committee Chairs forums are online events and open to audit and risk committee chairpersons in the public sector. We might, with the agreement of presenters, provide copies or recordings of presentations. The discussions are not made available publicly, to encourage free and frank sharing of challenges and solutions or approaches.
Our plans for the 2023 forums
During the first half of 2023, we're hoping to host online forums covering:
- the economy (an update from Dr Caralee McLiesh);
- the Three Waters reforms;
- countering fraud and preventing corruption prevention;
- councils' long-term plans; and
- public sector procurement.
What we covered in 2022
The forums last year were well attended and feedback about their usefulness was positive. We covered:
- internal and external audit (including the relationship with the auditor);
- the Three waters reforms;
- Māori/Crown relationships;
- the Controller function and the Office of the Auditor-General's work programme;
- performance reporting;
- workplace bullying;
- climate change reporting; and
- cybersecurity.
