Service performance

These graphs show service performance. Most public organisations have specific service performance reporting requirements for each financial year. These are set out in annual accountability documents, such as a Statement of Performance Expectations or in the Estimates or Supplementary Estimates documents. Most public organisations are required to report on outputs. Performance indicators show how a public organisation is performing for a specific output and explain what the organisation intends to achieve.

In the period 1 January 2016 to 31 March 2020, before Te Pūkenga was established, the 16 institutes of technology and polytechnics (ITPs) operated independently.

The total number of performance indicators that the ITPs reported on decreased significantly between 2016 and 2019.

Te Pūkenga began operating on 1 April 2020 and the 16 ITPs became its Crown entity subsidiary companies.

Notes: The number of performance indicators shown for 2021 comprises only the Crown entity subsidiary companies. The number of performance indicators shown for 2022 comprises both Te Pūkenga and its Crown entity subsidiary companies. The graphs exclude performance indicators where the achievement status was not explicitly stated and could not be inferred (that is, there was no actual or target value to infer achievement from).
