Update on inquiry into Mangawhai community wastewater scheme
In recent weeks, we have received several requests for information about the progress of our inquiry into the Mangawhai community wastewater scheme.
The issues involved in this inquiry are substantial and complex, so it has taken longer than anticipated to carry out the inquiry and write the draft report.
As with all of our major inquiries, we will now ensure that we comply with our natural justice obligations by giving those affected an opportunity to comment on the draft report before we finalise our views.
Sometimes, new issues are raised by those asked to comment on a draft report or new information is provided. This can mean we are required to do additional work to finalise a report. This makes it difficult for us to provide a definite date for when this report will be published.
This work is continuing independently of the legal processes currently under way, such as the Kaipara District Council (Validation of Rates and Other Matters) Bill and proceedings in the High Court.
When our report has been finalised, we will publish it on our website, and send the link to everyone on our subscriber email list. Printed copies will be available in Kaipara and from our Office in Wellington – we welcome requests in advance from Kaipara residents for printed copies.
