Auditor-General prioritising inquiry request
24 May 2012
The Auditor-General, Lyn Provost, is prioritising a request for her to conduct an independent inquiry into matters relating to the grant of New Zealand citizenship to Yong Ming Yan. She will make a decision in the next few days about whether to inquire.
Any inquiry involves a significant commitment of time and public funds. We need to make sure we understand the issues, and what value we could add, before we make a decision.
We expect to carry out the preliminary work needed to make that assessment in the next few days. When a decision has been made, we will publish a statement on our website, and this will be sent to everyone on our subscriber email list.
