Over the last three years, the Covid-19 pandemic has brought the public sector many new challenges and opportunities. Public organisations have had another challenging year responding to the arrival of Omicron while dealing with ongoing social and economic impacts of the pandemic.

Given the significant and rapid increase in public spending related to Covid-19, our Office has taken a keen interest in understanding how public organisations responded to the pandemic. We have published a range of reports, articles, and good practice material that contain valuable lessons for public organisations as they respond to Covid-19.

Whether making funding decisions in response to a crisis, reporting more meaningfully on their performance, or being responsible stewards of public money, public organisations should act in a way that maintains the public’s trust and confidence in them and the wider public sector.

We ran an interactive session for senior public sector leaders to share insights from our Covid-19-related work. Our staff presented important findings and insights from our recent performance audits, inquiries, and good practice guidance.
