Henry Broughton

Henry is Acting Assistant Auditor-General for the Strategy and Communications Group. The Group is responsible for strategy development and monitoring, and reporting on and promoting our work programme.

The Group supports governance arrangements and corporate planning, and continuous improvement of project and programme management across the Office. The Group also supports communications, manages the Office’s brand, advises on reputation matters, and looks after the Office’s publications and reporting, social media channels, and public relations activity.

Henry re-joined the Office in May 2022 after a two-year secondment with Te Arawhiti (The Office for Māori Crown relations) where he led work on assessing the health of the Māori Crown relationship, and acted as Manager Strategic Policy. He was previously a sector manager in the Parliamentary Group.

Henry has an Executive Masters’ degree in Public Administration from the Australia and New Zealand School of Government.
